A LIFE IN BALANCE
Capturing the World from Both Sides of the Economic Divide The Photography of Cheryl Nemazie November 3 - 23 Opening reception, Thursday Nov. 3, 4 - 6 pm Artist Talk: Thursday Nov. 10 at Salisbury University in Fulton Hall 111 Friday Nov. 11: Gallery tour, 10 am - 12 pm Cheryl Nemazie has forged a unique path during her career as art director for global hotel brands. Early on, while working for hotels in the Middle East, she became jaded with what she calls 'cocoon travel', where the world seemed to be evolving into a decidedly homogeneous place. Ever curious about how the majority of the population in these countries survived day to day, she took a course in photography for NGOs (non-governmental [aid] organizations) which launched her counter-career. This show juxtaposes works from these two paths: as art director creating carefully composed settings and as documentary photographer capturing economically challenged settings as they enfold before her. This show will inspire and stimulate the imagination of students on the threshold of graduation on the possibilities of balancing career with philanthropy. Gallery hours: M - F, 9 am - 5 pm |
